Naadam: Cashmere With A Conscience

“Looking good is important, but so is feeling good.”

This is the wisdom that drives Naadam Cashmere, a luxury fashion brand with a unique business model. While Nadaam provides trendy, affordable clothing with a high-end twist, they’re also supporting a global industry.

Founded by Matt Scanlan and Diederik Rijsemus, Naadam is built upon a relationship with goat herders in Mongolia. Naadam sponsors these herders and works with the Gobi Revival Fund to keep the goats healthy, and in turn receives first access to some of the world’s best cashmere.

Not only does this ensure quality content for their buyers, but it also has ramifications across the globe. The partnership between Naadam and their herders helps sustains nomadic cultures. It goes beyond ethical fashion—it’s a sustainable, conscious business practice. And trust me when I say it’s worth it.

Naadam sent us some samples from their luxury women’s fashion line, and it was perfect timing. Fall is just getting into full swing, and good winter accessories are going to be hard to find soon. So needless to say, we were thrilled when we got the opportunity.

We got to try out the Thick Ribbed Beanie and the Ribbed Scarf, both in gray. And you’ve never felt cashmere like this before. As someone who is allergic to wool, cashmere is sometimes hit or miss for me. The overabundance of cashmere products in the past decade and constant need for more wool means that quality of the wool isn’t always as pure. Which means big, angry welts for me.

Which means that this scarf is butter soft, and extremely warm. Not to mention the fact that I found the only beanie in the world that doesn’t make me look like an idiot.

Screen Shot 2015-10-27 at 11.34.40 PMThe shopping experience itself is truly unique as well. When you go to a product on Naadam’s site, you get additional information about what region the fibers from your product came from, as well as the name of the herder.

While it’s true that there are plenty of grey scarves and beanies out there in the market currently, Naadam’s products are unique. Not only do you receive a stunningly high quality product, but you can feel good about what you’re wearing. The cashmere is comfortable, and there’s something even more comforting about knowing that your fashion comes with a deeper purpose.

Currently, Naadam is running a promotion that provides 20% off for new customers when they sign up, as well as free shipping and returns.
