5 Secrets To Keeping Your Skin Healthy This Summer

By Mia Taylor

The way your skin looks and feels like reflects the overall state of your body (and mind). That shimmery tone of your skin or that horrifyingly grayish undertone of it is a true teller of whether you are healthy and if you are taking good care of yourself. Naturally, skincare should be approached with equal dedication every month and with proper nurturing techniques applicable for the month/season in question. With summer just round the corner, it’s about time you took skincare more seriously. With a proper set of tips and tricks, it’s possible to achieve glowing healthy skin everyone will be envious of, so bear with us.

1. Keep your skin moisturized.

The most important thing to remember this summer is to use moisturizers, otherwise, your skin will quickly dry up. It will also be exposed to the elements even more and, in the long run, you will have to deal with a bunch of problems you never wanted. Try making your own organic skin moisturizer to be sure that what you put on your skin is healthy and natural. If your skin is oily, you will have to go an extra mile and experiment a bit with the ratio of ingredients to make it work.

2. Be conscious of the sun.

Spend as much time in the sun as possible; the sun is great for helping your body get energized and generate the necessary amount of vitamin D. However, if you spend too much time exposed to the sun rays, your skin might get damaged. Never leave your home without sunscreen on as you risk hurting your skin, even if it will be exposed only for a short period of time. Thankfully, there are natural ways to handle damaged skin, but in order to avoid that, make sure to protect yourself from the harmful rays in time. Better safe than sorry, right?

3. Detox naturally.

A healthy breakfast is what gets your body revved up, which is why you should include plenty of fruit and veggies. Look for green leafy produce to help detox your body naturally and pump it up with necessary vitamins and minerals. A healthy salad can help your body a lot, and you don’t have to worry about piling up the calories, either. If you are more about a solid breakfast, go for it – just make sure it’s protein based with a side of salad or veggie/fruit smoothies. Experiment and see what gets your digestion moving the fastest!

4. Use a gentle face scrub.

When it comes to natural skin scrubs, we’ve all heard so many stories about fruits or vegetables that are great for this and that, haven’t we? Ahhh… And all while we couldn’t try them all, we definitely have to trust a few recipes out there. For instance, using lemon and tomato juice can help you exfoliate your skin perfectly! Juice these ingredients, freeze them without any water, apply in the morning, and voila your skin will be radiant and you will look fresher than ever. Just remember to wash your face thoroughly before you go out, as dried tomato stains can look a bit odd.

5. Keep your makeup natural.

It might seem like a bad idea to use makeup in the summer as it will block your pores and it’s a drag removing it before sleep. Well, good news is that there are labels such as dr Hauschka makeup and cosmetics that are great for summertime as they cover irregularities while at the same time helping the skin regenerate. No more worrying if any of the products you use will harm you in any way!

In essence, summer skincare helps protect your skin, while making you look your best every time. Come up with a summer routine to help your skin stay healthy and elastic so that you can focus on having fun this summer.
