When it comes to Halloween, it seems like there’s a finite number of holiday-appropriate songs. When you’re a kid or going for a campy vibe, classics like “Monster Mash” or the “Ghostbusters” theme are a staple of any Halloween get together. But, contrary to popular opinion, “Werewolf in London” is not a song that’s enjoyable to listen to over and over again.

But there’s no need to feel chained to one of those mix CDs you can buy at party city when planning your Halloween bash (or when looking for something to listen to while you sit in the cold shivering as you hand out candy). I’ve compiled a spooky-themed indie Halloween playlist from some of your favorite artists to save you from having to listen to “Time Warp” one more time.
