4 Reasons You Should Give a Sleep App a Try

For those who struggle with falling asleep at night, you’re not alone. And, thanks to modern technology, there are dozens of apps out there that are designed specifically for people experiencing sleep issues—from difficulty falling asleep to trouble with waking up throughout the night. If you haven’t explored the world of sleeping apps, it’s about time you start. There is a nearly endless number of options out there, depending on what you’re looking for.

You can find apps that will teach the techniques of meditation, so you can implement these yourself when you’re about to go to bed. Or, you can try using an app that tracks your sleep, so you can identify potential problems in your sleeping patterns. If you implement these useful tools in tandem with CBD sleep oil, you’ll notice a difference in your ability to fall asleep and your overall quality of sleep.

Help You Fall Asleep More Easily

There are many different types of sleeping apps that exist for different purposes. Many meditation and ambient sound applications are designed to make it easier for you to slip into sleep without tossing and turning for hours. If you’ve never tried meditation before, you’ll find a plethora of apps designed to teach people the basics, from visualizations to breathing techniques. Listening to pre-recorded guided meditations will help you get into the right mindset and relax. Taking CBD tincture for sleep before you meditate is a great idea because it will further encourage your brain and your body to enter into a meditative state. For other people, ambient noises are enough to ease them into a deep sleep. Silence can be louder than you think—especially when you’ve been lying in bed staring at the ceiling for too long.

Track Your Sleep Patterns

Gaining insight into your sleeping patterns is easy with one of the many sleep tracking apps, and it provides valuable information—like which times you tend to fall into REM sleep, when you’re sleeping lightly and how your health metrics impact your sleeping schedule. Although this information can be a little too much for some people, others who are trying to realign their sleep schedule with their body’s natural circadian rhythm will find the data very useful.

Learn How to Meditate

One of the greatest skills you can gain from these sleeping apps is the ability to master meditation. Many people, even long-time practitioners, enjoy a guided meditation. This type of meditation features a speaker with a soothing voice who walks you through an exercise, whether it’s a body scan or a visualization. Many apps incorporate this feature, but they typically also have features teaching the basics so you can master your favorite breathing techniques and use them throughout the day—not just as you’re falling asleep each night.

Feel More Productive and Motivated

When you’re able to get a better night’s sleep, you’re guaranteed to be more awake, alert and ready to take on the day. This last year has been unusual for everyone as more people found themselves working from home than ever before, which can lead you to fall into a strange sleeping schedule that also impacts your work productivity. If you’re struggling with this, check out some tips for being more productive while working from home and consider how your sleep schedule may be affecting you. When you get a good night’s sleep of at least seven or eight hours, you’ll notice you also seem to have a clearer mind. Try going to bed and waking up at the same time every day to get yourself into a regular schedule.

Our Favorite Sleeping Phone Apps

Calm

Granted the title of Best iPhone App of 2017 by Apple, Calm is an excellent app with a combination of features that helps its users have an easier time falling asleep. You’ll discover tons of different meditation exercises, calming sound effects and even bedtime stories. When you initially sign up, you’ll be asked to set a goal, such as “improve focus,” “reduce stress” and “better sleep.” You can definitely choose more than one goal as many of these issues are intertwined, but with this information, the app will be able to better help you achieve your goals and show content you’re looking for. You can try the app free for seven days. After the trial, the cost is $60 per year.

Headspace

Another excellent meditation application, Headspace is focused solely on meditation. There is a free version of the app available for download, but paying for the full version is worth it because you’ll be granted access to an extensive library of meditation exercises. If you want to learn the basics, you can work your way through many common techniques, or select exercises based on purpose, such as “meditation for relaxation” or “meditation for anxiety.”
